Aloes are a succulent variety with over 500 types. Native to Africa and Madagascar they can be small and compact or large and perfect for landscaping. Leaves form rosettes with little or no stem and are usually thick and fleshy with soft teeth or serrations on the edges.
The leaves are often green or blue-green in color, but can also be variegated or reddish. Flowers appear in winter or spring on tall stems. The tubular flowers are typically brightly colored in shades or red, orange, yellow, or pink.
